Universal Welcome: Universal Design and Inclusive Access in Massage Therapy

Cultural Competency for Massage Therapists (1 Hour CE)

A supervised, self-paced continuing education course for licensed massage therapists focused on cultural awareness, ethical care across difference, and professional responsibility in therapeutic relationships.

Ethical massage therapy requires more than good intention. It asks practitioners to consider how access, difference, bias, communication, environment, and professional responsibility shape the client experience.

Universal Welcome invites massage therapists to look closely at how their practice can become more inclusive, more accessible, and more responsive to the realities clients bring into the room. Through guided reflection and supervised learning, this course supports deeper awareness of how universal design and inclusive access strengthen ethical care.

This course is designed for massage therapists who want to build practices that are more welcoming across disability, difference, communication needs, and lived experience. It is especially relevant for practitioners seeking to strengthen cultural humility, reduce barriers to care, and align professional ethics with everyday clinical decisions.

“I really appreciated the active discussion board in this course. The thoughtful exchanges with other therapists helped me reflect more deeply, challenge my assumptions, and apply cultural competency concepts directly to my practice.”
